The 84th Military Operations Research Society (MORS) Symposium will be will be held June 20-23 in Quantico, Virginia. This year’s theme “Fifty Years Solving Defense Challenges to Secure the Nation,” celebrates the strong, stable foundation that analysts before us have laid through their research and experience. The event will include a MORS 50th Anniversary Celebration at the National Museum of the Marine Corps on Wednesday, June 22.

For the second year, Technomics employee owners will be attending this four day event to continue building strong relationships throughout the analytics and research community. For over fifty years, MORS has provided resources and professional development to enhance the quality of analysis and to advance the operations research (OR) profession. To support this mission, the annual symposium includes over 500 classified and unclassified sessions with 33 working groups, special sessions, demonstrations, and tutorials. This year’s keynote address will be given by Lieutenant General Robert S. Walsh, Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Integration. MORS is also offering three courses for continuing education units (CEUs) approved by George Mason University:

  • Operations Research for Practitioners
  • An Affordability Analysis Approach to Maximize Value Across the Life Cycle
  • Wargaming and Technology

In addition to the training, demonstrations, and presentations, there will be a social, a formal gala, and a 5K throughout the week, which provide excellent networking opportunities to interact with other professionals in the community.

After becoming involved with MORS while in graduate school for Operations Research, Technomics employee owner Emily Foglia attended last year’s symposium to obtain a broader view of data analysis within the Department of Defense (DoD). The symposium provided many informative presentations, including some directly related to cost analysis and others related to affordability analysis, risk analysis, and modeling and simulation. She and other employee owners who previously attended the event are gathering more talented analysts to participate in this 84th MORS Symposium. Registration is still available, so we hope to see you there!
