National Aeronautics and Space Administration
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is responsible for expanding U.S. knowledge and innovation through exploration of the unknown in air and space including deep space exploration, earth science, and aeronautics. The agency focuses on scientific discovery, technological innovation, and international collaboration to inspire and educate future generations, while also fostering advancements in aeronautics and space exploration that contribute to global advancements in science and technology. Over the past decade, NASA has evolved its partnership with the private sector to leverage commercial advancements, to support a Moon to Mars campaign; invest in satellites and instruments to gather data and observations of Earth and the universe; and promote commercial investment in low earth orbit (LEO) while maintaining the country’s sustained access to space.
Technomics partners with NASA to support and address challenges in the following:
- Maintaining and strengthening NASA’s global leadership in air and space exploration, scientific discovery, and innovation.
- Effectively leveraging commercial partners in the emerging space industry to modernize capabilities and operations for access to space and human spaceflight.
- Promoting, growing, and employing the next generation of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) leaders to execute and further NASA’s mission of discovery for the benefit of humanity.
Informing Spacecraft and Instrument Design with Accurate Estimates

NASA/Isaac Watson
Technomics delivers accurate and defensible cost estimates and validation analysis of spacecraft instruments, buses, payloads, and test equipment at all phases of spacecraft development. We identify key cost drivers and enable proactive cost management approaches throughout every milestone. Using a Design-to-Cost (DTC) approach, we treat cost as an independent variable (CAIV) and conduct Cost/Requirement and Cost/Performance trade-offs to aligning initial design decisions to affordability goals Our rigorous analysis helps NASA optimize budgets, improve planning, and enhance overall mission success.
Framing and Quantifying Risks to Space Communications and Navigation
NASA/Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex
Technomics unifies Risk Management and Analysis to identify, assess, and mitigate potential threats to the mission and other related programs. Our work helps program and risk experts better prioritize, develop strategies for, and mitigate risks to communication and navigation systems. This enables more effective risk management for the near and deep space networks ensuring critical communications and navigation for NASA and other scientific and exploratory missions.
Developing Comprehensive Estimates for Space Traffic and Collision Avoidance Systems
NASA ODPO
Technomics supports the development of early-stage cost estimates and cost management approaches for data information and analysis systems used to provide basic space situational awareness and tracking. Our work provides a sound basis for program and cost management early in the project life cycle to enable project success and support project objectives to increase safety and promote international cooperation.
