Two Technomics Employees Recognized by the GAO
|
Washington DC - May 1, 2009 Jack Smuck and Bob Meyer of Technomics, Inc., received a “Results through Teamwork Award” from Gene Dodaro, acting Comptroller General of the Government Accountability Office (GAO), on May 1, 2009 at GAO Headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Smuck and Meyer were recognized for their efforts in creating the “Cost Estimating and Assessment Guide: Best Practices for Estimating and Managing Capital Program Costs.”
The document is designed to establish consistent cost estimating standards and procedures based on industry best practices for use across all federal government programs for developing, managing and evaluating capital program cost estimates. GAO felt the need to create this document because it is responsible for assisting Congress in overseeing federal government agencies’ stewardship of public funds by measuring the agencies’ performance against best cost management practices.
The two-year effort to produce this Guide was a collaborative endeavor with experts in government, industry and professional associations, reaching across differing areas of business to achieve consensus and make the Guide useful throughout government. Relying on their many years of cost estimating experience and widely-acknowledged expertise, Smuck and Meyer wrote the Guide’s first draft.
Karen Richey, who managed the effort for GAO, stated in an email to Technomics, “Thanks again to Jack and Bob for all of their help. We could never have done this if they had not laid the groundwork and set up our reference files.”
